You will need this course if you plan on being a Professional Bail Bond, Runner, and or a Surety Bail Bondsman.

South Carolina Bail Bond School will conduct pre-licensing classes at least once a quarter, and are usually the first Mon-Wed of the new month. These live classes are $400.00 per person.

Classes are VIRTUAL ONLINE via ZOOM, very interactive, and includes a 100 question exam that you will be required to take at the end of class. This will give you a indication of your initial understanding of the industry. In the case where a failing grade is given on the end of school exam, a retest will be given at no cost. We believe that you must study and test harder than the real exam, so that you are well prepared and highly confident. Each student will be given a copy of the course through email. No bulky books or binders. Simple and clean.
We ask that you bring a notepad and pen, or any other materials you think may be helpful. (i.e. calculator)
Our guarantee: If you do not pass the test, you will have the ability to retake our school at NO COST to you during one of our normal scheduled classes.

South Carolina Bail Bond School classes are held online
If enough students register as a group of 5 or more, a class can be scheduled on an off time. If you would like to do an in person class for your group, we charge $500 per student plus travel fees.

Property and Casualty Course
We will be announcing soon to all SCBBS students course schedules. We will have the course available for self study and Instructor led options. We will be able send it to you via email or mail (printed) if you are confident in your own self-study skills. This self study course or Instructor led course will assist you in passing your Property and Casualty Test for your P&C Producer license. This course covers insurance regulations, surety bonds & fidelity bonds, commercial crime coverage, and workers comp insurance. This license is required for you to have in order to work for a surety bondsman and to be appointed by a surety insurer.

What is South Carolina Bail Bond School?
SCBBS is a certified bail school for bail bonds by the State of South Carolina. Founded by an experienced industry veteran. Even though our name is South Carolina Bail Bond School, we act as more of a Bail Agent Academy, as we train individuals in a specialized field of higher learning!
What is a Bail Bondsman?
A South Carolina bail bondsman is a South Carolina Department of Insurance licensed bail agent with the authority to conduct bail bonds within the State. A bail bondsman can underwrite appearance bonds for defendants located within a detention center in one’s municipality or county.
What is the difference between a Professional Bondsman and a Surety Bondsman?
A professional bondsman is one that has the capability to underwrite appearance bail bonds in ratio to the collateral (property, cash, or other securities) that he/she puts up with their county of residence.
A surety bail bondsman is a licensed insurance producer who is appointed by a Surety Insurer and posts bail on behalf of said Insurer. An Insurance Company usually requires a form of collateral (cash) to be deposited into a Trust account (called a BUF, Build Up Fund) with them. The ratio usually requires less monies to be deposited than a professional who deposits with their county in exchange for insurance premiums.
What is a Runner?
A Runner is an extension of the Surety or Professional in which they assist. A runner may assist a Surety Bondsman or Professional in making sure a defendant’s appearance in court and daily tasks. A runner has the authority to deliver bonds on behalf of a Professional Bondsman, but has no authority to deliver Powers of Attorney or Bonds on behalf of a Surety Bail Bondsman.
How do I start a bail bond career?
First you start by taking our school! You will need to take the Professional Bail Bondsman Course with us. If you want to be a Professional or Runner this is all you will need. From there you will want to take the Professional/Runner Bondsman Test with www.pearsonvue.com. Schedule to get your fingerprints done withwww.identogo.com to receive your State and Federal Background check. After this apply with the SCDOI.
If your desire is to be a Surety Bail Bondsman on top of the previous you will now need to receive your Property and Casualty Producer license. The Property and Casualty Producer course can be self study (order our materials by mail) or Instructor led virtual course. You will next want to take the Property and Casualty Producer Test with www.pearsonvue.com. After this apply with the SCDOI for both licenses.
Does South Carolina Bail Bond School assist in career (job) placement?
Yes we can. We have several agencies we recommend throughout different parts of the State. However, if you are sent to our school by an agency, we do not solicit our students. We believe in honesty and integrity, and have a strong desire to create strong relationships with agencies who refer students to us.
Can I write bonds as a runner?
If you are a runner on the behalf of a Professional Bondsman, you may be granted by your Professional Bondsman to underwrite bail.
Is it legal to bounty hunt?
Bounty Hunting is completely illegal in the State of South Carolina.
